This is crunch time. The legislators are working out the details of the budget right now, making deals or holding fast. It's important that we keep the pressure on, reminding them that adult education does a phenomenal job of serving the public in a variety of areas, and should not be lost in the rush to create a working budget. Cutting adult education to make the budget work will make things worse in the long run.
Here's an update from Dawn Koepke about what is happening in the Legislature right now, where adult education is concerned.
Dawn's update includes this link to a piece in the L.A. Times testifying to the value of adult education.
Keep sending those emails and letters.
Keep telling friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, bosses, and employees about the situation and ask them to send letters and emails also.
We want the update on June 15th (due date for the State budget) to include good news about adult education.
